Rumour: Ezio from Assassin’s Creed to Join the “Stage of History”

For those deprived gamers who are not familiar with the quote, “Stage of History”; it’s from the epic weapons based fighting game series that is SoulCalibur. This Namco produced game series always attempts to please players by introducing a character from another game and making him/her playable in the game. This is the part where I proceed to naming these characters:

  • Soul Edge: This was the initial installment to the series. It only introduced the game’s foundational characters
  • SoulCalibur: This featured Yoshimitsu, the infamous ninja (cyborg?) from Tekken
  • SoulCalbur II: Here it started getting really interesting. The Xbox version featured Spawn the comic book character. The PlayStation2 version revisited the Tekken world and brought back Heihachi. The Gamecube version was blessed with Link from the Zelda series.
  • SoulCalibur III: Namco failed us here; Dante from the Devil May Cry series was expected to feature in this edition but was too busy fighting demons in his own world.
  • SoulCalibur IV: They need no introduction; Darth Vader and Yoda.
  • SoulCalibur: Broken Destiny(PSP): Cratos from the God of War series.
Hopefully now you know why you should be hyped for SoulCalibur V and its featured character. Joystiq got an anonymous tip, in the form of the following image, as to who this character may be…
Rumour: Ezio from Assassin’s Creed to Join the “Stage of History”

Those of you who paid attention to the title would have already figured that the rumoured new character is Ezio from Assassin’s Creed. However, don’t get to excited as it’s still just a rumour and in such situations, never stop suspecting Photoshop.

Anyway gamers, you still need to exercise some patience as SoulCalibur V won’t be released until next year. So in the meantime you may indulge in a SoulCalibur V Gamescom trailer.
