Samsung has announced that since the Galaxy S II’s launch in April, it has sold 10 Million copies of the device.  In the last 8 weeks, the S II has sold 5 million copies. As at July, only 5 Million copies of the Galaxy S II had been sold. We have to however compare it to how the iPhone has done in Q2. The iPhone was sold over 20 Million times in Q2 only. For those who don’t know, the Samsung Galaxy S II is the successor of the Galaxy S. It runs on a 1.2GHz Dual-Core CPU, 1GB RAM, dual-core processors and Android 2.3. It’s also packed with an 8MP rear camera, 2MP front-facing camera and an AMOLED screen. The Galaxy S II made it to our list of Top 5 Back To School Smartphones.

It’s important to note that these are only Channel sales, which are quite different from end-user sales. Samsung knows they have a long way to go, and they congratulated themselves with this release:

“Samsung GALAXY S II continues success reaching 10 Million in global sales…In just five months the GALAXY S II has seen tremendous growth, reflecting its tremendous popularity with customers around the world, who in selecting the GALAXY S II as their device of choice have driven the device’s strong market position globally.”
